Fresh from toilet training Max, Dettol Mission for Health asked me to write an article sharing my experiences. Below is a mere snippet, click HERE to read the full article.
I have just successfully toilet trained my son, Max, and it was a relatively pain free experience for father and son alike. A lot of that was down to the planning and strategies that I employed in the build up to toilet training, during toilet training and in reacting proactively to potential problems. As Mums and Dads we are always looking for definitive guidelines but there is nothing definitive about children or toilet training but perhaps my experiences may help you on your journey.
When is the time right?
We are often guilty of trying to rush through the various stages of childhood for fear that our little ones are falling behind. Toilet training like so many other stages of child development is all about taking the cues and clues your children give you and not being influenced by where others are at.
Over time Max became quite adept at giving us signs that he was ready, stopping just short of writing on his Etcher-Sketch “this is a sign that I am ready for toilet training”.
